Drew works to examine the viability of manufacturing batteries with SPE membranes based on precise polyethylenes. These polymers are unique in their controlled chain folding characteristics and have very promising transport properties. He will work to scale up the polymer to sufficient quantities to begin building and testing these materials within batteries. If successful, these materials may enable manufacture of more efficient, cost-effective, and safer batteries while maintaining or even increasing their energy density.
Outside of work, Drew is passionate about Duke Basketball, watching movies, and spending time with close friends.
